I was in the Bahamas, photographing a man with a horse and carriage, as well as a woman and her daughter, in Rawson Square, for the "Better in the Bahamas" ad campaign. As I looked up across the street, I noticed a group of young officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force forming up in formation. I quickly turned to my subject and said, "Excuse me!" Then, I hurried across Bay Street, dodging cars rushing in every direction, to capture a fantastic shot of the officers standing in formation. I positioned myself in front of them and said, "Look this way."
My goal was to create an image reminiscent of the old black-and-white photos from our colonial past.
