When The Dominici Collective chose to showcase Jeantrix, a fashion & Art clothing brand from the Philadelphia area that caters to pop art enthusiasts worldwide.
Jeantrix Fashion & Art on the Streets of New York.
It was a perfect match! I was eager to bring the vision to life! Photographing the line while finally getting to use the red graffiti wall I pass daily on 124th Street was something to look forward to.
Creating and combining Fashion, Art, and my images was just the beginning of what was going through my mind. The texture and the many colours that highlighted different areas of the street were a photographer’s ideal place to shoot.
It would make the Jeantrix line pop even more. On top of that, I couldn’t stop thinking it was in my backyard – right in Harlem.
The wheel was already in place, and it was spinning. So, I was compelled to show why my photographs would place the brand on the next level. I was front and centre with lights, camera and photo assistant Ezell, helping to make that happen.
Jeantrix Creatives Objective
The brand was created in 2004 by two young African American brothers. Nyce and Homm, whose objective was to rouse the masses, started with just one pair of customized sneakers. Their one-of-a-kind luxury apparel, canvases, sculptures, film and art installations were best known for eccentric clothing that naturally evolved to encompass a broader range of art.
The brand has been featured in many media outlets such as Elle Magazine, The Source, The LA Times, BET, MTV and FOX. They also collaborate with many celebrities and fashion titans like Saks Fifth Avenue, Dr Martens footwear, Patricia Field, Janet Jackson, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Michael B Jordan, Alicia Keys, Blue Ivy and many others throughout the fashion and entertainment industries.
The four models, two females and two males, chosen by The Dominici Collective, were the most suitable fit. They were Jeantrix! The interchangeable custom tops, colourful hand-painted jackets, coats and denim jeans were made for their model’s bodies. Wearable human art!
My lighting had to work perfectly for that beautiful spring Saturday morning. That yellow or red wall as the background or even the graffiti wall would make my photography pop as I envisioned. My lighting equipment, primarily the Godox 200, added just enough to make it all come together.
